FAQs

How have things changed because of COVID-19?

Prior to March 16, 2020, we would meet for your intake session in my office. Since the Essential Services And Revised Gatherings Order has been put in place for health and safety reasons and a State of Emergency has been declared we’ll be meeting online on a HIPAA compliant, confidential platform.

Blue Cross Blue Shield has also issued a statement following Governor Bakers directive, which states that while Massachusetts is in a State of Emergency, telehealth services are covered for all their members and cost-sharing is waived, meaning that for telehealth services during this time BCBS will be covering the cost (no co-payments, co-insurance, or deductibles will apply).**As things change, more updated information will be provided.

How much do you charge?

Intake sessions are $150 and session following the intake are $130 per session. I accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards. Payment is due at the time of your appointment. For those using their Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance, your co-payment is due at the time of your appointment.

Do you take insurance?

At this time I accept Blue Cross Blue Shield and am out-of-network with all other insurance companies. You can call your insurance plan and ask about your “out-of-network” benefits. If you have out-of-network benefits, you would pay my full fee upfront and then I would provide you with a statement or “superbill” that you can submit to your insurance company. They would then reimburse you for part of my fee.

Is there a cancellation policy?

Yes, there is a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you cancel within 24-hours of your scheduled appointment, you will be charged my full session fee. In these situations, insurance will not reimburse, and you are responsible for the full-fee.

How does it work? What do I have to do in sessions?

Because each person has different issues and goals for counseling, it will be different depending on the individual. I tailor my therapeutic approach to your specific needs.

How long will it take?

Unfortunately, this is not possible to say in a general FAQs page. Everyone’s circumstances are unique to them and the length of time counseling can take to allow you to accomplish your goals depends on your desire for personal development, your commitment, and the factors that are driving you to seek counseling in the first place. I recommend weekly sessions initially with the option of decreasing frequency once progress has been made. This will be a decision we make together.

I want to get the most out of therapy. What can I do to help?

I am so glad you are dedicated to getting the most out of your sessions. Your active participation and dedication will be crucial to your success.
